Opera in four acts. The work is performed in the original, Italian language version with subtitles in Polish.
“Cyganeria” has hosted the stage of the Grand Theatre in Łódź three times — most recently in 2007, in an excellent production by Laco Adamika. This extremely popular opera by Giacomo Puccini - the second next to Turandot - is one of the most presented works on the world opera stages not only for its striking music, but also for its moving plot. Its protagonists — colorful representatives of artistic bohemia — unexpectedly come into contact with surprising situations far from their habits and habits, situations - which give rise to reactions and feelings different from the previous ones. The main character of the opera — Mimi — brings new values and emotions into their lives, and for Rudolf, the artist-painter, I become the object of new sensations and feelings for him, not entirely possible to realize.
This romantic opera by Puccini has proved on stage more than once that its plot and the relationships between the main characters are very close and significant for the modern viewer, and the music brilliantly illustrating the emotions of the main characters - from the first to the last bar - makes it difficult to distract him from the stage and vocal action. So Gyganeria is a timeless work, impressive though not effacing, melodic though unbanal, touching... A work that also delights and moves the contemporary viewer, but also prompts reflection. And the music?... She speaks for herself...
