In a world dominated by digital media, we increasingly feel the need to return to analog forms of expression. This is the opinion of the artist João Maria Gusmão, whose exhibition can currently be seen in Zachęta. In the latest experiment, Gusmão reaches for an analog camera with which he observes everyday life. He combines his observations with a reflection on the violence that is present in Western culture. In addition to this, he is curious about the process and method of producing such images. He treats the finished film tape primarily as a trace left by light.
Referring to this way of thinking, during the workshop we will observe the influence of light in the photographic technique - cyanotype. We will use autumn plants for this, the traces of which left on paper will give the effect of a white and blue composition. The process of formation of prints is slow and requires direct contact with matter. So this will be an excellent opportunity to work on mindfulness and patience.
