A series of author's meetings POŁEŚCIE (POD) MISCELLANEOUS: “A school that no longer exists...” Janusz Wojtas

Jeleniogórskie Centrum Kultury Muflon invites you to another meeting within the cycle of STORIES (POD) MISCELLANEOUS. This time our guest will be Janusz Wojtas, author of the book “School that no longer exists. The only one, dreamlike. Memories.”

It will be a sentimental journey to Sobieszów from years ago — to the time of study in the Complex of Tree and Forest Schools, a meeting with the stories of school colleagues and teachers and the memory of four years that have been permanently recorded in the author's memory.

As Janusz Wojtas writes: It is 2025, and after almost 40 years of living in Sobieszów I returned to the city, or rather the district where I was born (...). But like a wolf pulls me into the forest, so does it pull me to Sobieszów, where I studied in high school, later I worked in vocational education, where I worked, I knew many people, where I created, enjoyed life, cried and laughed, where I experienced ups and downs.

This personal story also becomes a reflection on the power of human memory. Although places change, schools disappear and years pass, there are still people, emotions and stories that are worth preserving and passing on. Memories recorded in books and diaries save a fragment of the world that for future generations can become only history.

The meeting will be an opportunity to discover together the history of Sobieszów and talk about the places, people and events that have shaped the local community.

About the book: “A school that no longer exists. The only one, dreamlike. Memories” is a personal story by Janusz Wojtas about his years spent in the Forest and Forest School Complex in Sobieszów. The author recalls school friendships, teachers, everyday life and events from the period of his education, creating a picture full of personal memories of the school and its people.

About the author: Janusz Wojtas (1955) — certified teacher, education manager, evaluator of educational institutions, instructor and volleyball coach. For 25 years he has been the President of the Sobieszów Sympathic Association, and at the same time actively works in the world of sports and acts as a judge in the field of winter sports and their summer varieties.

After the meeting, it will be possible to purchase the book Wydawnictwo Poligrafia AD REM from Jelenia Góra.
