WIZARD OF OZ

The play is based on the novel by Lyman F. Baum.

The Wizard of Oz follows the journey of Dorothy, a girl living in Kansas, who moves from gray Kansas to the colorful, artificial and magical Land of Oz. To find her way back home, Dorothy meets both good and bad characters. Her friends become surreal heroes: Scarecrow, Tin Lumberjack and Lion. Each of them is looking for a piece of their personality and together with Dorotka they live colorful adventures.

The whole story described by Baum seems to be taken out of literature or surrealist art. And such an aesthetic was chosen in the staging of “Oza” from Wałbrzych. All forms, costumes or projections in their inspirations date back to the period of the great surrealists, and especially the paintings of Rene Margritte.
