Kindergarten is empty. They all went home. There are only four pictures drawn by the children: the scribbled Gryzmolek, the fancy pet Fanti, the princess Anna-Joanna-Marianna-Katarzyna-Jadwig-Diana-Takasiaka and the monster Grrr. The princess is an exceptionally pretty picture and hangs majestically on the ceiling. It is so beautiful that it even has a frame. The rest of the drawings are not so successful and will be stored on the floor.

It is with such didascalies that Erhard Schmidt's play begins. I wonder what will happen when the characters from the pictures come to life on stage and what kind of relationships will they establish? There will definitely be no shortage of emotions and not everything will turn out as it seemed at first...

The work of the German author, translated into Polish, was published in “New Arts for Children and Youth” in 2004; it will have its Polish premiere at the Ateneum Theatre.

Erhard Schmied — German playwright and screenwriter, author of books, plays for children and young people, radio listeners, born in 1957 near Frankfurt am Main; lives in Saarbrücken. He has received numerous awards for his work, among others, the Würzburg Literary Prize, the Christoph von Schmid Prize in the field of literature for children and young people, the Prize for the Promotion of Literature of the Ruhr Region, and the Hans Bernhard Schiff Literary Prize. For the play “Four of Paper” he was nominated for the German Prize for Children's Theatrical Creativity.

Lila Mrowińska-Lissewska — Polish interpreter of theatre plays, has been associated with the Centre for Children's Art in Poznań for years. In the publishing series “New Arts for Children and Youth” many German translations of her work have been published, including works by such playwrights as: Martin Baltscheit, Urlich Hub, Thilo Reffert and Ingeborg von Zadow. At the Ateneum Theatre, “Four of Paper and String” is the third realization of the text translated by Lila Mrowińska-Lissewska — after the performances “How penguins sailed the ark” by Urlich Hub (2009) and Martin Baltscheit's “Only One Day” (2014).
