Can a tourist really get to know the city or is he always looking only at his idea? During the conversation, Tomasz Duda, Szymon Maksymiuk, Kinga Rabinska and Monika Szymanik will reflect on what exactly Szczecin is as a destination and what makes us want to visit it. We will talk about urban narratives, guides, symbols and how the inhabitants themselves create the image of their city.
October 13 (Tuesday) 6:00 p.m. Does Szczecin exist? | Urban tourism Tomasz Duda, Szymon Maksymiuk, Kinga Rabinska, Monika Szymanik Host: Daniel Źródlewski ProMedia (Wojska Polskiego 2 al.) Admission to the event is free
Tomasz Duda - wanders between the north and south of Europe like a modern skald, collecting stories written in the landscape, memory and road. He is a geographer and lecturer, but above all an attentive guide who can read the signs of the sea, stone and history. Scandinavia, the Baltic and the borderlands of cultures are for him a map of senses, not just directions. He turns his wanderings and reflections into stories — book and radio, on the air of Radio SuperFM.
Szymon Maksymiuk - the child of the Floating Garden. A lover of Szczecin, Pomerania and its turbulent, multi-threaded past. An archaeologist by education. From addiction canoeist. Since 2018, a certified city guide, a tourist information worker on a daily basis. She won't miss the chance to tell you about the city. After hours he cleans Szczecin. Promoter of plant-based diet and ecology.
Kinga Rabinska - city guide and storyteller, cultural animator and president of the Association “Taming the City”. She is interested in Szczecin primarily through its history and memory, local identity and people's relationship with space. In her guiding work, she looks for ways to tell about the city that go beyond the classical framework of narrative, leading through neighborhoods, backyards, personal stories, memories and places important to residents.
Monika Szymanik - the owner of a cult place in a tenement house at 19 Pocztowa Street in Szczecin, which was first a cafe with books, but in April 2024 turned into a bookstore. A lover of tenement and “old” Szczecin (she uses this nice name instead of the word “post-German”). Author and publisher of two photo albums Tenement house in the forest. Instagram wanderings of the Szczecinianka and the tenement house in the forest. Poczta 19, the hidden treasures of Szczecin
Daniel Źródlewski - cultural scientist, journalist, presenter, animator and cultural manager, speaker and PR person. Theatre and film reviewer. Journalistic freelancer. He runs the author's Wortal Texts Source (www.tekstyzrodlowe.pl). In the years 2013-2025, spokesperson of the National Museum in Szczecin, involved (then and/or now) in many cultural projects, including in Szczecin — Review of Small Form Theatres Kontrapunkt, Akusticzeń, Szpak, Adlojada.
