About the event

Frozen Baltic Sea, wooden inn in the middle. Through the twilight, melodies roam that sound at once alien, and disturbingly familiar. Will you go inside?

This vision is only a foretaste of what awaits us soon. Give Fire will present the project “Music of the Imaginary Village”.

The musicians of Give Fire themselves best define their work in a unique, poetic way:

“We wander between Poland and Scandinavia, playing on dance buddies, stipes and sacred groves. On the way, we stop at painted gates in taverns on the frozen Baltic Sea. We play under the feet and to the imagination of people from under the thatch and from under the asbestos roof, intertwining the musical traditions of the North and the South.

We play old country tunes in our own anachronistic fashion, evoking moods from an imaginary village — plebeian raves, echoes of rites, cries for death in virginity and the stomping of bare feet on frozen soil. Weaving the musical story, we use the sounds of archaic string lyres, traditional singing, bagpipes, drums and bones, all intertwined in a melancholy yet danceable sound.”

Daj Ognia's music is characterized by a unique duality — a suspension between romantic phantasm and harsh reality — and forms the core of the band's identity. Their work, often referred to as “dark folk” or “alternative folk”, is born from a longing for a place that never existed, but that subtly each of us remembers. It is not an attempt at historical reconstruction, but a creative imagination filled with melancholy and an unbending trance, in which the raves of bygone times intertwine with everyday mysticism.

Give Fire certainly stands out from other bands with its instrumentation. On stage we will hear traditional Scandinavian string lyres, hoop drums or bagpipes — and that's just the beginning.

COMPOSITION OF THE TEAM:
Anna Sitko — vocals, bass
Michał Górka — tagelharp, mandola
Wit Rzepecki — strakharpa, bagpipes
Agnieszka Oramus — hoop drum, darabuka, drum, santur
Michał Biel — hoop drum, drum, bones

All this set creates a mixture that immediately captivates to dance and confirms the belief that modern trance electronic music has its roots in very distant times.

Give Fire concerts are an experience that goes far beyond the scope of a regular performance. The ensemble is famous for its theatrical style and extremely intense stage narration. Each song is another story, and another dose of wild energy that is instantly given to the audience. Musicians regularly mesmerize the audience at the biggest festivals in Europe — from the Lithuanian Mėnuo Juodaragis or Kilkim Žaibu, through the Stockholm Kulturfestivalen, Gotland Medieval Week, Czech Lodžie Worldfest, to the native Ethno Port, Etnokrakow/Roz, or the Festival of Slavs and Vikings in Wolin.
