Where is the horizon? What makes some things seem close and others distant? During the family workshop, we will look at how Surrealism artists built space on a flat surface of a painting. We will see how they used perspective to change the way we look at the art world.
We will look for the horizon in the exhibition, look at the city through the window and see how the picture changes when we shift the point of view. We will also consider whether something can be both far and near at the same time — for example, a memory, a dream or a place that is important to us.
Finally, we will reach for a drawing and a collage and create our own worlds. We will start with the horizon line, and then we will put the important and the less important in them: those that are close to us can grow to enormous sizes, and those that are further away — become tiny. Together we will examine how perspective can be used to tell not only about what we see, but also about what is really important to us.
