Damy i Huzary - SPECTACLE

We cordially invite you to the Maki Culture Studio, where on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 19:00 we will present the play “Ladies and Huzars” performed by the Amateur Social Theater, which was established in 2006 at the Cultural and Educational Association “Węglin Północny” in Lublin.

The action of this three-act comedy by Alexander Fredra takes place in Major's house in the countryside. He stays here with a group of friends — the Hussars. They enjoy hunting and playing chess while relaxing in the countryside. The “last white-headed” has just been sent out of the manor. “One day I will pass quietly and calmly,” the Captain dreams. The bachelor bliss, however, does not last long. The Major is visited by three sisters together with an “entourage”, by no means composed of men. Soldiers' honor commands the dignified reception of women. The “hussars” double and triple, but their efforts have the opposite effect. Meanwhile, the “ladies”, undeterred by the rudeness of their hosts, decide to implement their plans for the Major's marriage. The intrigue revolves around an attempt to match an elderly but wealthy Major with Sofia, the daughter of one of his sisters.

The Amateur Theatre has been operating in Lublin for 16 years, and during that time more than 150 people of different ages and professions, very eager to act, cooperated with it. The members of the theater, in addition to dreams about the stage, are united by a love of lively words, correct Polish, rich costumes and acting in a group. The initiator and leader of the group is Dariusz Boruch. The theater has 38 premieres, staged 200 times in total.
