Dave East hits The Flea on October 23 with a modern take on 90s New York hardcore rap!

Ticket sales start on Friday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m.

With strong lyrics and narratives from Harlem's street, MC Dave East mixes 90s hardcore New York rap with a modern sound. His indie mixtapes were picked up by legendary Nas in the early 2010s, which got him signed to the record label Mass Appeal.

Born David Brewster Jr. in 1988, East began releasing mixtapes in 2010 with Change of Plans, followed by projects such as Gemini from 2013. After signing with Mass Appeal in 2014, he released Black Rose and Straight Outta Harlem, and in 2015 Hate Me Now followed with guest appearances from Pusha T and Jadakiss, among others.

In 2016, East was selected for XXL's Freshman Class and his tape Kairi Chanel debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart and reached the Top 40 on the Billboard 200. The following year, he released the single “Perfect” featuring Chris Brown, which appeared on Paranoia: A True Story. The album also featured guests such as Wiz Khalifa, Jeezy and Nas and reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.

East continued his prolific pace with Karma in 2017 and Paranoia 2 in 2018, followed by Karma 2 and Survival from 2019 contained Nas, Rick Ross, Teyana Taylor and DJ Premier among others. Around the same time, he also dipped his toes into the white canvas with roles in the Netflix film Beats and the series Wu-Tang Clan: An American Saga.

East remained very active in 2025 with the community-conscious project The Final Call alongside Ransom and the collaborative album Fine Dining with Young Chris. That same year, he revived his acclaimed mixtape series with Karma 4, a release featuring 26 tracks and guest appearances from Key Glock, Larry June, Wiz Khalifa, among others, as well as a posthumous verse from Nipsey Hussle. He continued the momentum into 2026 with For the Love 2 alongside Scram Jones. Come along to once East Coast hip hop of the finest school on October 23rd at the Flea!
