Irish rock duo Dea Matrona consists of Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe, who met each other as teenagers at an Irish-language singing competition. Soon after, they began playing together as street musicians in Belfast, which became the start of their musical collaboration.

With a strong DIY approach, the duo have built up a loyal fan base through intensive concert activities and their own releases. Debut album For Your Sins (2024) topped the indie charts, gained airplay on BBC Radio 1 and led to appearances at Glastonbury as well as support jobs for The Beaches. In 2026, they take the next steps with the album Hate That I Care, which revolves around identity, female empowerment and the feeling of being left out—told with a contemporary Irish perspective.

Dea Matrona combines melodic, classic rock inspired by bands like Fleetwood Mac and The Cranberries with personal lyrics and an energetic sound. Their strong friendship and shared joy of playing continue to be the driving force behind the band, which now stands ready to take on even bigger stages.
