Dent May invites on soulful indie pop and bittersweet lyricism in Ideal Bar

When Dent May's sixth album The Big One lands on the 14th. August 2026, May embarks on a new chapter in her musical playbook.

On this album, May opens the door to a larger musical community. With the addition of a skilled live band, he steps away from the bedroom pop production that has characterized his music in the past.

The album's opening number of the same name, “The Big One”, looks at the world with a clear look at the world, encountering everyday disappointments and heartbreak with a cautious optimism and belief that something good can still await ahead.

US music magazine Stereogum also bites mark in May's ability to turn the bleak into something uplifting, describing the song as “an exquisite, existential daydream.”

Over nearly two decades and six albums, Dent May has built up an extensive back catalogue. His sound has moved from a more classic American indie sound to a larger and more ambitious pop expression with fuller productions, more complex compositions and a good portion of crooner coolness.

On April 24, 2027, Dent May occupies VEGA with its unique blend of melancholy and joie de vivre. It becomes a tribute to life - for better and for worse.
