Depeche Mode is a phenomenon in the history of entertainment music. A mosaic of styles in which pop mixes with electronics, rock or new romantic, and the symbolism hidden in music videos and exuberant concerts captivate fans all over the world. “Depesze” is a subculture that is still active and strongly represented in Poland. Our Theatre decided to honour her and explore the phenomenon of music as a communal, ecstatic and sometimes metaphysical experience. The musical performances “Depesze” skillfully combine elements of the band's creativity with an attempt to reflect its sociological phenomenon, and above all — the phenomenon of being a fan.

We invite everyone of all ages and musical tastes to travel to the interior of the dystopian Depeche City, where soulless corporations promise people “New Life” and escape from reality are musical rituals, called “Black Celebration”, led by the star and prophet — Personal Jesus. Meet Little 15, Excitera or Precious and embark on a journey through a world of sounds, images and lyrics that will embody characters and places before your eyes. Immerse yourself in the night city. What is the phenomenon of the band, and above all its Polish fans, creating a subculture with original language, rituals and fashion, which in the gray reality of the PRL was a breath of modernity? Does today's world still need a telegram? Or are subcultures a thing of the past? After daily struggles with problems, do we still dream of belonging to a tribe whose religion is a leather jacket, sunglasses, dance and songs, the words of which everyone knows? From the 1980s to today, generations of Depeche Mode fans flock to concerts, themed parties and fan clubs. Everywhere they celebrate the dark, but at the same time full of sweetness, music of the masters of melancholy.

Depeche Mode are still incredibly professional and one of the best bands in the world. Not only for the music, but also for the devotion of the fans and a certain artistic romanticism that no longer happens in music. We will also try to convey this in the “Dispatches”.
