In a small town in southern Sweden, the widowed Ingmar Karlsson lives secluded and according to fixed rules. Since the death of his wife, his relationship with his daughter Erika has also cooled down. He only has the roses left from his deceased wife — and his divorced, intrusive neighbor Rolf Burman.
While the hottest and driest summer in living memory has had a firm grip on the country, the entire region is waiting in vain for the redemptive rain. But through a miracle — or perhaps an extraordinary coincidence — Ingmar suddenly finds himself at the center of an event that could change not only his own life, but also the fate of his place and possibly much more...
