About the event

The Hanoverian modern-jazz quintet Destinesia brings to the concert stage the reading of fragments of Stanisław Lem's prose with music and live visuals. Invincible”

in October 2026, it will reach three cities, including Katowice, the UNESCO City of Music.

A seemingly abandoned desert planet, far from Earth, becomes the scene of a peculiar drama.

In search of the crew of a sister ship, the heavy space cruiser “Invincible” reaches Regis III. On the spot, First Officer Rohan and the rest of the crew quickly realize that they are dealing with a perfectly adapted machine intelligence that knows no desires, hopes, or dreams—nothing human grasping; it only cares about the crew insofar as its algorithms see it as a threat. What was supposed to be a rescue operation is increasingly turning into a serious disaster.

This story from Stanisław Lem's 1964 novel “Invincible” will find its place during the autumn tour of the chamber music project. The production celebrated its successful premiere already in 2025 during the Long Night of Museums at ZZZ Hannover. Ola Wolan, VJ of the Wrocław Theatre, is responsible for the live visualizations during all three concerts; in Katowice, the ensemble is accompanied by renowned jazz singer Anna Gadt from Katowice, with whom Destinesia has established contact through the UNESCO Cities of Music network.

Lem's question about how to deal with the Alien — a phenomenon that eludes human comprehension and is therefore seen as a threat — is as relevant today as ever. With the concert tour, Destinesia counteracts this with artistic means: a Polish-German exchange that goes beyond political debates and strengthens the partnership between UNESCO Cities of Music Hanover and Katowice.

Destinesia is a modern jazz quintet that was formed in 2016 at the Higher School of Music

and the Rostock Theater, and today four of its five members live in Hanover. The band has already played many concerts in Germany, including at the SEE-MORE-JAZZ festival, the Forum of German Higher Schools of Music and the Travejazz festival, and organizes its own concert tours in Germany.
