Rainy song

The rainy song is a satire on the Hollywood of the 1920s and the nascent show business of the time. Don Lockwood is one of the most popular stars of cinema and appears on the red carpet in the company of his film partner Lina Lamont. Collaboration on the set with a beautiful but whimsical actress becomes more complicated when cinematography undergoes a sound revolution. Lina's unpleasant voice calls into question the plan to create a new film. Then Don's friend — composer Cosmo Brown — comes up with the idea of using the voice of the talented but still underappreciated artist Kathy Selden... The plan, risky in itself, is further complicated by Lina's unrequited affection for Don and the actor's infatuation with the graceful and independent Kathy...

The performance Rain Song is based on the script of the 1952 film of the same name, which was hailed as the best musical of all time. Its authors are Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Viewers loved him primarily for cult songs such as “Good Morning” and “Singin' In The Rain”. The theatrical adaptation faithfully recreates the course of the action, including the famous dance in the rain scene.

The musical Rain Song directed by Tadeusz Kabicz raises the question of what the famous Dream Factory actually is and where does the human need to create false, embellished images of reality come from. The sound revolution, which is the main axis of the plot, frightens the protagonists, because it carries the risk of exposing the illusory nature of the film world. The play tells about the creative process, the role of stars in society and the compulsion to constantly meet other people's expectations.

The musical director of the Poznań production is Krzysztof Herdzin, the scenography and costumes are in charge of the Polish-Japanese designer Natalia Kitamikado, and the choreography is prepared by Michał Cyran and Maciej Glaza (step).

The partner of the premiere is Aquanet Retencja, with whom we will cooperate on a project with an ecological theme and which will help us technologically in the preparation of the show and its iconic scenes. The project involves educational activities on rainwater recovery (retention) and its role in counteracting the water crisis.

The second of the partners is Fromażeria, which not only helps us in the realization of the premiere, but also prepared a surprise for the viewers! The first restaurant in Poland with Cheese Bar, awarded in 2023 by the MICHELIN guide Bib Gourmand, invites viewers of the “Deczowa Piosenka” to take advantage of the offer of the pre-spectacular menu of Fromagerie! If you book a table and order any dish or cheese board, you will get a glass of organic house wine from the company for free! All you have to do is show valid tickets to the “Rain Song” for that particular day.
