Venue: DT Stage - A motley group sets out to understand the mysterious disappearance of two young tourists in the Central American rainforest, to process it artistically, to make a play out of it. There is a writer who will talk about her experiences later on. And who not only reports about it, but also weaves many more stories into her description, which increasingly make it clear that unequivocal truth does not exist in this world.
With Die Holländerinnen, Dorothee Elmiger not only wrote a novel that won the German Book Prize in 2025, but also a text about storytelling itself: From the framework of a crazy theatre project in the rainforest, numerous stories unfold about the margins of civilization and consciousness, about the blurred line between truth and delusion, nature and culture. As dense and interwoven, as mesmerizing as the tropical vegetation itself.
Jan Friedrich has already received several awards for his numerous novel adaptations; with his production of Kim de l'Horizons Blutbuch, he was invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen in 2023.
