We teach our children that they should not fight back but forgive. Forgive me — even if someone destroys what I love?
Wolfdietrich Schnurre, founder of Literature Group 47, has left a short fable that was published posthumously as a picture book, illustrated by Aljoscha Blau. Here, the elephant in the china shop turns the phrase from which it comes upside down: He cherishes and cares for the fine crockery with great care and sells them to wealthy lovers at hefty prices. One day, a “poor little” mouse comes along, today a bit of a ruckus, just wants a cheap soup bowl but then leaves behind a huge pile of broken pieces.
“Everything is broken, a thousand sharp pieces, as it once was, it will never be again. ”
Fortunately, the neighbors have called the police, who are immediately on the spot. But then everything takes an unexpected turn...
Under the direction of Matthias Schönfeldt, the ATZE Musiktheater brings this story to the stage. With music by Iljá Pletner and masks by Frida Grubba, a bizarre musical story is created with masquerade playing and dancing.
