Venue: DT Stage - The Orestie of Aeschylus is the only completely preserved ancient tragedy trilogy and tells of the curse of the house of Atreus: about Agamemnon's return from Troy, his murder by Clytemnestra and the revenge of the son Orestes. Its significance lies in the fact that it dramatizes a historical and political transition: from blood vengeance, family curse and divine retribution to court, publicity and democratic justice. It is therefore still regarded today as the founding text of European theatre — and as a play about the fragile invention of law.
