The stumbling world. What is the origin of the existential crises with which the world is struggling today?

Venue: Chamber - What is the origin of the existential crises with which the world is struggling today?

The 21st century was greeted with optimism by many people. But now democracy is in an existential crisis, wars are raging all over the world, the earth is heating up. Philipp Blom uncovers the causes of this dramatic change between 9/11 and Russia's annexation of Crimea. With its attack on Iraq, the USA is gambling away its credibility. With Berlusconi, a real estate billionaire is taking power in Italy for the first time and consolidating it through his own media empire. Everywhere, the market is displacing the welfare state and the common good, the gap between rich and poor is growing, and a battle for power and digital supremacy is raging.

Anyone who wants to understand the crises of the present day must know their history: Philipp Blom is their sovereign chronicler. On the occasion of the publication of his new book Die stumchelnde Welt, he is a guest at DT Kontext.
