THE CHRISTMAS ANGELS — angry, sharp and *indescribably feminine

Are you looking forward to Christmas? Are you afraid of your gifts and claustrophobic family quarantine? Sweet home, happiness alone. Either or! Is Silent Night not loud enough for you? Then you've come to the right place.

Anna Möbus and Charlotte Welling are not just two freshly minted thoroughbred cabaret artists from the Christmas bakery, they are two equally shameless and winged year-end figures, also known as angels in Christian terminology. Welling and Möbus, two beguiling graces of comedy, are pleasantly and relentlessly presenting the most unvarnished truth about Christmas since mascara was created.

The angels give themselves the Christmas tree ball and they play everything: Santa Claus and Santa Claus, God and Fraugott, Mary and Joseph, Jesus and his sister Jesusi, Erwin and Lise-Lotte, ox and donkey, shepherd and innkeeper, kittenbearer and robe abuser, llama and tinsel — they all find a place here.

Two lucid arch-bitches of good news announce heavenly peace and blow up a satirical frontal attack on the festival of love. Oh, you happy, because comedy could hardly be more cheerful, subversive and grotesque.

Learn everything about the terrible Holy Family. The Immaculate Conception, was it the Holy Spirit or was it the Spotted Devil? Was Mary really that innocent? Was Joseph just a sandal seller and Jesus a Waldorf student? Why did redemption begin with a tax audit? Is the Bible the mother of all soap operas? Who set off the big bang? Who made the original soup? Were there any helpers? The Christmas angels know more, they were there.

Probably the funniest Christmas story since there have been Christmas stories, bitter, sweet and full of energy.

The good Lord is appalled, the audience enthralled and the press cheers: “a heavenly pleasure,” says the Bethlehem messenger and the Nazarene Echo writes: “Two angelic elves as sweet Satan roast, more adaptable than the body of Christ itself.” The morning star is titled: “Two light stars in the firmament of cabaret, simply divine and devilishly good.” Saints two queens from the West rock the stable and hijack the crib. The tree is burning, punchlines are ignited there, hearts are laughing. Contemplation has never been so fun.

Long awaited, it has finally succeeded, the fusion of shrill comedy, intelligent religious satire, spicy cabaret and heart-refreshing nonsense. In around 2376 concise roles, the two enormously consumer-critical Christmas angels, Möbus and Welling, show not only scenes from the everyday life of

Christian topcasts, but also beautiful sketches about the festival.

If your Christmas blessing goes wrong, Möbus and Welling will set it up again. Don't miss out on this pleasure.

The two angels

Anna Möbus, born in Cologne, received her diploma in acting at the Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft in 2013. This is followed by engagements in Dresden, Aachen, Bonn and Cologne, where Möbus conquered the stages with the production “3 Sisters #vollerLiebeimKampfmodus” of their own theatre collective, which will receive the special prize from the Cologne Art Salon and a nomination for the Cologne Theatre Prize in 2022.

Charlotte Welling, born in Freiburg, graduated from the Berlin School of Acting in 2014. Berlin is followed by engagements in Bonn, at Theater Hagen and in Cologne. In 2018, Welling founded the chanson duo “Die netten Koketten”, with which she captivates the audience both singing and playing. Since 2016, Welling has been working alongside the stage for the WDR children's program “Wissen macht Ah!” in front of the camera.

Anna Möbus and Charlotte Welling meet on stage at the Theater am Sachsenring in Cologne, where the two are on stage together for the first time under the direction of Joe Knipp in the production “Die Käfer — Das rote Album”, which is celebrated by the press and audience. Further joint productions and premieres quickly follow. In “Die Weihnachtsengel”, Möbus and Welling shamelessly storm the abysses of the Christmas season and are not too sorry for anything. Once humorous blood is licked, both ladies discover the desire for cabaret and the almost inexhaustible potential of their comic qualities, which is why they founded the cabaret artist duo: MÖBUS&WELLING in 2020.

In close collaboration with their author, Thomas Reis, and their director, Joe Knipp, the duo will celebrate the premiere of the cabaret comedy in April 2023 at the Theater im Pariser Hof in Wiesbaden: Two Women and a Fridge — Do Men Really Happy?
