From Buenos Aires to Chicago, from Helsinki to Tokyo, from Auckland to Shanghai: Barrie Kosky's production of The Magic Flute has now enthralled visitors all over the world and can without exaggeration be described as the export hit par excellence of the Comic Opera Berlin. After two years of abstinence, Kosky's Magic Flute is finally back in Berlin.
The performance draws its unmistakable charm from the animations created by the British theatre company “1927”, with which Tamino, Pamina, Papageno and the Queen of the Night interact as if they were part of their real environment. And so in this magic flute with dragons, pink elephants, dancing constellations and flying butterfly cubs, we experience a magical road movie on the way to true love. A vivid picture book in a “delicious and absurd mix of silent and animated films.” [BERLINER MORGENPOST]
