The Czech comedian and cabaret artist Karel Švenk was deported from Prague to the Nazi ghetto Theresienstadt in 1941. There he took on a leading role in shaping cultural life and became known as the “Chaplin from Theresienstadt.” At the beginning of October 1944, he was deported first to Auschwitz and then to a factory near Leipzig. He died on a deportation train to Mauthausen on April 1, 1945. 50 years later, filmmaker Sibylle Schönemann roams the streets of Terezín for THESE DAYS IN TEREZÍN with author Lena Makarova and Israeli singer Victoria Hanna Gabbay. With every new encounter with people who knew Švenk, an ever larger network is created, in which a dialogue between both cultures and generations is maintained.
