The most beautiful ballads from the country before our time

About the event

36 years after the fall of the Wall, Dirk Zöllner (Die Zöllner) and Manuel Schmid (Stern-Combo Meissen) present the most beautiful ballads from the country before our time. Not a nostalgic show, but rather care for a high-quality cultural heritage.
An opulent sound experience with two singers, two pianos, saxophone, guitar. Songs by Lift, Karat, Biege, Bartzsch, Bicking and Lakomy.
Singer and pianist Manuel Schmid is also causing a stir in the German-language music scene with his own albums and brought the star combo Meissen back on everyone's lips in 2024 with the EP “Die Himmelsscheibe von Nebra”.
Saxophonist Marek Arnold has long been a fixture on the international progressive rock scene and has released joint albums with Steve Hackett (GENESIS), Jon Anderson (YES) and Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER).
Singer Dirk Zöllner and pianist André Gensicke have been working together since November 1987 and founded their big band “Die Zöllner” in June 1988. Sixteen albums have been released in the past 35 years.
Zöllner also published four books and, as a columnist for the “Freie Presse”, is committed to peaceful social cohesion.
The rough and the soft, the improvised and the clear — there has already been a symbiosis of the very different voices of Dirk Zöllner and Manuel Schmid several times. In times of corona, the two released a living room concert with said songs. In 2024, the symbiosis was now experienced live and recorded as a recording.
