This time in DKF REWERS we will meet cinema that is unobvious, perverse and very characteristic of the work of György Pálfi. “Hen” is a film that surprises from the very point of view — we observe the world of people from the perspective of the title heroine, a black hen escaping from industrial breeding.
It is at the same time a story full of dark humor about survival, freedom and instinct, but also a film that hides under an inconspicuous plot questions about the relationship of man with the animal world, violence, exclusion and the way we look at others. Pálfi does not humanize his heroine outright — emotions and meanings are created primarily through the image, editing and our own reading of her behavior.
It is a cinema that balances between the grotesque, the drama, the black comedy and the cinematic parable. This is certainly not just a story about a chicken.
