Sofia Coppola's legendary directorial debut, which opened the door to the world of girls' secrets, returns to Polish cinemas in a restored 4K version! The Curses of Innocence is an adaptation of the cult novel by Jeffrey Eugenides, published several times in Poland. The story of the five Lisbon sisters tells the story of the first times and entering adulthood, before which it is impossible (or that for sure?) escape.

Phenomenically shot by Ed Lachman, with ethereal musical setting performed by the duo Air, The Curses of Innocence is a sensual tale of growing up in the 1970s. A quarter of a century later, bathed in saturated, sunny colors, remains primarily a memory and a fantasy — written in abandoned diaries, felled trees and sounds gramophone records. The teenage Lisbon sisters are remembered by an unnamed narrator, in love years ago not so much with one of the girls, but with the mood of mystery that they had around them. The curses of innocence have a multi-generational cast, made up of actors with a characteristic aura: James Woods (Videodrome), Kathleen Turner (Heat of the Body) and, above all, the young Kirsten Dunst (Interview with the Vampire, Maria Antonina) and Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor, Sin City). The airy, dreamy style of the film was inspired by Picnic under the Hanging Rock, so that Coppola's debut looks like a transfer of the mysterious story of Peter Weir to the realities of the American suburbs. On the Curses of Innocence, generations of girls and women have been brought up, to whom the sensitivity captured in the film is close. The production support of Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope and Sofia's freedom of imagination resulted in one of the groundbreaking debuts of contemporary cinema — an intimate, yet undisturbed, warm-summer-scented story to immerse yourself in and savor.
