Doc’n Roll Film Festival returns to London this autumn for its 13th edition, bringing another exciting selection of music documentaries to cinemas across the city from 22 October to 8 November. Fiercely independent and rooted in a DIY spirit, Doc’n Roll celebrates the artists, outsiders, scenes and stories that shape music culture, spanning genres, generations and musical movements from around the world.
HEAVEN 17: THE LAST TEMPTATION As the band approaches its 50th anniversary, the shows still deliver, but the crowds are thinning and the years are catching up. Across four gigs, we meet the devoted fans who have stuck around and witness a group reckoning with what comes next. But this is a band built on a split. Martyn Ware was famously kicked out of The Human League just before they became global stars, and he and former bandmate Phil Oakey haven't spoken in three decades. Now, Martyn decides to reach out. Part tour film, part reconciliation story, the film captures a band at a crossroads, asking whether old wounds can heal and whether this is really the end.
Stay around post-screening for a Q&A with director James Strong.
