“Where are you going, wolf?” is an international, multilingual performance based on the prose of Ewa Wieżnawiec, directed and set by Monika Dobrowlańska.
The starting point is the stories of the women of Polesia and the family memory passed down between generations. The show is about the frontier world — changing borders, languages, identity and memory. The personal stories of the heroines become part of the wider story of the Eastern European experience.
One of the most important theatrical means of performance is multilingualism. Different languages not only coexist on stage, but also build relationships between the protagonists and become part of the drama of the play.
The project is created by artists from Poland, Belarus and Ukraine. Sviatlana Zeliankouskaya, Jaŭhenija Kulbačnaja, Olha Hryhorash and Monika Dawidziuk perform on stage.
The play premiered at the 8th International Theatre Festival “Direction East” in Bialystok. It was then presented, among others, at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, at the Middle East International Theatre Festival in Lublin and in Avignon.
