Issy Valley (2D/Original)

We cordially invite you to a special day for domestic cinematography, which falls on November 11th. This year Polish cinema celebrates its 110th birthday. As members of the Studio and Local Cinema Network, we join in the celebration of this important event.

On this occasion, we would like to remind you of the extraordinary film entitled “Valley of Issa” directed by Tadeusz Konwicki, which is a screen adaptation of Czesław Miłosz's work of the same name.

Tadeusz Konwicki undertook to shoot the film based on a polemicizing, multi-threaded essay. The effect is surprising — in 1982 a moving painting work was created. It shows the mythical Lithuania — the childhood land of both creators. It is a place where Christianity and paganism live side by side in a strange symbiosis, where the affirmation of life is closely intertwined with the alluring drive of death. Trapped between Eros and Thanatos, the inhabitants succumb to many passions, and their lives filled with extreme emotions until it seethes with intensity. An incredible role in this painting is played by Jerzy Łukasiewicz's photographs. Thanks to incredibly plastic shots, the main character of the film sometimes becomes nature itself - unchanging wild, threatening and fascinating.

Thanks to the digital reconstruction of the film, the quality of the picture and sound underwent an incredible metamorphosis — the film regained its freshness, thanks to which it becomes even more mesmerizing — with the colors and renewed clean sound of the incredible music of Zygmunt Konieczny.
