Sometimes we forget that the great men of art had to overcome many adversities in everyday life. Listening to Bach's works, we do not think about the fact that at the end of his life he lost his sight, and going to a concert of Beethoven's works, we do not think about how hard it was for him when he lost his hearing. The program will feature the works of brilliant minds with fragile bodies.
Concerts will be dedicated not only to composers who have struggled with disabilities, but also works dedicated to people with disabilities. The programme will include works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Fryderyk Chopin and Stanisław Moniuszko.
Jerzy Owczarz — piano Oliwia Ślipek — soprano Franciszek Gwizdowski — baritone
Stanisław Moniuszko — Oh, Jasko!
Stanisław Moniuszko — Grandfather and Grandfather
Wolfgang Amadeusz Mozart — Shall We Shake Hands
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — Cinque, Twelve
Emmerich Kálmán — Heia, heia, in the Bergen
Fryderyk Chopin — The Pretty Boy
Stanislaw Moniuszko — Przasniczka
Stanisław Moniuszko — This clock is a hundred years old
Fryderyk Chopin — Hulanka
Gioachino Rossini — Largo and factotum
Fryderyk Chopin — Nocturne in E flat major, Op. 9 No. 2
Edward Grieg — In the Cave of the King of the Mountains
Ludwig van Beethoven — Sonata in C minor, Op. 27 No. 2, pt. III: Presto Agitato
Lower Silesian Music Salons (DSM) is a series of concerts organized at OPT Zamek in Wroclaw-Leśnica, referring to the 19th century formula of salon concerts, when classical music was a form of popular artistic entertainment. These events were characterized by a varied repertoire: dramatic works with cheerful, vocal with instrumental, and well-known compositions with newly discovered works. Thematic concerts were also often organized, dedicated, for example, to holidays or the work of outstanding artists.
A unique feature of the salon formula was the direct contact between the audience and the performers, moderated by the speaker. Each event consists of three 15-20 minute parts of the concert, interspersed with a moderator's talk, which allows the audience to better understand the musical and historical context of the presented works.
Since 2016, DSM concerts have won a regular audience in Lower Silesia, Lubuskie Land and Saxony. During this time, almost a hundred concerts and workshops were held, supported by, among others, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation and the Center for Culture and Art. On stage, the pianist-moderator, Dr. Jerzy Owczarz, plays the role of host, along with invited guests — singers and instrumentalists.
