Horwitz sings Brel — in a new, intimate version that gets under your skin, congenially accompanied on the piano by pianist Andres Reukauf.
Bitter melancholy, sweet pain, tender violence, biting humor: DER SPIEGEL called the singing, sweating, exhausting Jacques Brel a “singing animal.” Brel's songs seem to have been written for Horwitz: He lets his characters scream out their suffering and happiness, dance for their minds, loves them, lives them. The celebrated stage, film and chanson star breaks the limits of everyday life and becomes a “singing animal” himself. In order to get even closer to the audience at BAR JEDER VERNUNFT than ever before, Horwitz has opted for a radically reduced form: Just him and a pianist.
Closer proximity is not possible.
