Domology: “eko” (Greek oikos) means “house”
Week of environmental action
“Domology” refers to the origin of the word “eco” (Greek oikos — common space, house, nest) and encourages thinking about ecology in the context of the immediate environment — relationships, places, everyday choices. As a house of culture, we take it literally: in running a “home” there is always an action in a specific neighborhood and environment.
The word “ecology” has recently lost its relevance a bit. “Ecology” is increasingly being used as part of profit-oriented marketing activities. At the same time, “ecology” often becomes an objection to everyday choices (“Are you sure you segregate garbage correctly?”) or remorse (“Can I afford more expensive eggs?”).
What if we look at ecology through the prism of “domology” — concern for our immediate environment, relationships (interpersonal and interspecies), the shared space of one planetary home?
We invite you to join us in the week of ecological activities in our five branches — the House in the Avenues, the Artistic Workshops, the Rotating House of Culture in Yazdow, the Intergenerational Club Café and the Stage in Smolna.
The program includes:
• scientific-artistic symposium “Sentiopolis — the city of the sentient”
• A “refuge”, that is, a space of closeness and creativity, without the need for productivity
• walk, philosophical talks and workshops “Around the Wiggle of the Nests”
• creative walk for children “Stick, leaf, balance”
• creating “Collages from Recovery”
• writing interspecific letters “I combine words of mixed feelings”
• Live stories and workshops “In the Gardens of Memories” (event for seniors)
• concert “Neighbors from the ground floor”
• lecture by Prof. Marcin Napiórkowski “Stories that give hope”
• walk and workshop on building relationships between people and seeds “Fabulochoria” (event for seniors)
