We invite you to a week of ecological activities in our five branches — the House in the Aleje, the Artistic Workshops, the Rotating House of Culture in Jazdow, the Intergenerational Club Café and the Stage in Smolna.

“Sentiopolis — the city of the sentient” — symposium

“Sentiopolis” is the word of the future. Imaginary place. One that is dreamed of and told stories — created for all sentient beings, built together, beyond divisions and taking into account the rights of non-human inhabitants. A concept today placed rather in the realm of utopia, since it postulates the pursuit of a world that has not yet existed and whose creation may seem unlikely.
The path to sentiopolis, as a biopolitical community of sentient beings, involves the need to radically change the way of thinking about the city as a place to live and coexist. It requires the abandonment of species egocentrism and the adoption of a new, sentiocentric perspective, sensitive to the needs of all — not just human — inhabitants.
Sentiopolis is a biodiverse, inclusive city, based on the idea of social justice, safe for all: for pigeons roaming in the squares and resting on the cornices of old tenement houses, for rats digging underground settlements right under our feet, for savages - appreciating the abundance of food and shelter among the city greenery and countless other creatures inhabiting the facades and interiors of buildings, parks, canals, reservoirs and the river, along whose banks it grew.
Sentiopolis is not a utopia — it is a necessary update of our thinking about a home in which the boundary between interior and exterior, between culture and nature, ourselves and others, is finally blurred in favor of the community of life.

As part of the event, we will try to imagine our city as a community based on horizontal relationships. We hope that this meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the future and a collaborative experiment of compassionate imagination.
During the symposium we will listen to lectures given by specialists oriented to the design of the future. Our guests and guests will be:
Dorota Łazzka, Dariusz Gzyra, Robert Skrzypczyński, Karolina Kuszlewicz, Agata Szydłowska.

In place of the traditional catering accompanying the symposium, an edible composition of plants will appear. An original floristic and culinary installation created by a vegan duo of visual artists — Elwira Sztetner and Eda Kranc, will be eaten during the event. It will be a performative treat — an ephemeral work based on an ethic of care and responsibility. This is our response to material overproduction in art.
