Dearest Dulcyneo, I'm sorry! I am writing this letter to you knowing that you cannot answer me. However, please don't be angry. I couldn't come today. A lot of adventures stopped me. We errant knights fight a lot and then we are tormented by our chivalric dream. You are also in this dream, only of course much bigger and even more beautiful. When we wake up in the morning, we like to lie down a little longer. As I write this letter, I am just basking in the warm sand of the Mancha and I am constantly thinking of you. I kiss your tender hands. See you soon! I'm leaving soon. I'll be at your place tomorrow. Your D.K.
About the event
Don Quixote is a play with an unobvious and varied language. Its form tries to reconcile the spirit of Cervantes's chivalric story and the experience of contemporary theater with his tendency to comment on the current socio-political and historical situation. Through live music, elements of form theater and dramatic theater combine distant aesthetic concepts, seeking to find a common denominator in the cluttered reality that surrounds us. We are therefore dealing with a musical-visual event, where the classical hero becomes a medium subjected to experimentation. We are interested in what the overgrown interpretations and contexts of Don Quixote would mean today? What reality would he reflect, what we in his mirror would see through his reflection. We try to think about how his vision of the world would motivate and determine our actions. Don Quixote openly calls Dulcinea an idea created according to his own vision of the world. We have no answer what our Dulcynea is. We want to be Sancho Pansa on this journey with curiosity watching what will come out of this year's meeting with Don Quixote. The show has an open formula, ready to ask this question anew every year.
The performance is co-produced by Teatr Animacji in Poznań and Coincidentia Group.
The play takes part in the 10th Competition for the Staging of Old Works of Polish and European Literature “Living Classics”.
We kindly inform you that due to the specifics of the Stage layout, entry after the start of the performance will not be possible. We ask for punctuality.
