DOROTA MIŚKIEWICZ & MAREK NAPIÓRKOWSKI on November 21 (Saturday) at 6 pm in Strzelce Opolskie!
We invite you to the 12th Strzeleckie Jazz Gardens — because jazz flourishes here!
The concert is a fusion of personalities of multiple winners of the Jazz Forum magazine's “Jazz Top” plebiscite in the categories Vocalist and Guitarist of the Year. It shows how much can be done on stage and in sounds using two basic instruments: guitars and voice. The concert program includes the most famous works from Dorota Miśkiewicz's solo albums and pearls of Polish song (Młynarski, Osiecka, Czubaszek) and jazz standards in new interpretations.
DOROTA MISKIEWICZ
One of the most important Polish jazz voices, composer, songwriter. She has released nine original albums, which were often nominated for Fryderyk, and in recent years she herself has won the title of Vocalist of the Year in the annual ranking of the magazine “Jazz Forum”. On September 8, 2023, her latest album “Bons Amigos” was released, recorded in Rio de Janeiro with Latin jazz icon, Brazilian guitarist Toninho Horta. He was nominated for Fryderyk 2024 in the Jazz Album of the Year category, and Dorota herself was nominated in the Artist of the Year category.
Dorota Miśkiewicz is also a visionary who creates funny, artistic ideas. It was on her initiative that the unprecedented project PIANO.PL was created, during which for the first time in the history of Polish music on one stage, in chamber duets accompanied by the Atom String Quartet, a dozen outstanding Polish pianists of three generations presented themselves with her. She received a nomination for the Fryderyk Award and the prestigious Corypheus of Polish Music Award.
There are countless collaborations in which she participated at the invitation of other artists. As one of the few she sang and recorded in a duet with Cesaria Evora, their joint song “UmpinCelada” met with a great reception from music lovers all over the world. In addition, he has collaborated with Nigel Kennedy, Stefano Bollani, David Murray, Louis Winsberg, Kepa Junker, Toninho Horta, Tomasz Stańko and a whole host of artists of the Polish music scene.
