DR Big Band
Brazilian songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim took the world by storm when, in the 1960s, he introduced the bossa nova ('the new wave') and what later became known as MPB — Musica Popular Brasileira.
Today, Jobim's own music has classic status and can still melt hearts and make it twitch the legs of most people. This is especially true in DR Big Band, which over time has collaborated with a number of Latin legends — and of course the band loves Jobim!
This evening, the DR Big Band will again be visited by two big guns in their field for a joint tribute by the Brazilian champion: the vocal phenomenon Joyce Moreno, who is one of the greatest living artists in the combination of bossa nova, samba and jazz, and the American big band master Michael Abene, who for the occasion has arranged Jobim's song treasure especially for the DR Big Band and Moreno.
