A Love Supreme Revisited
DR Big Band
“Miraculous,” “amazing,” and “almost too good to be true.” Politiken has showered 32 year old mouth harp star Mathias Heise with praise and hearts several times when he has performed with DR Big Band in DR Koncerthuset.
The chemistry between 32-year-old Heise and the DR Big Band has been strong from the start. As a child and youth, Heise was tutored by the band's musicians, and as an adult he has been in close contact with the band as both soloist and arranger; most recently with a compelling joint tribute to jazz legend John Coltrane in 2025.
Tonight we revisit the album 'A Love Supreme Revisited', in which Heise and the DR Big Band together interpret Coltrane's legendary 1965 'A Love Supreme', while celebrating Coltrane's 100th birthday this year.
Look forward to experiencing — or reliving — a concert full of good sounds, deep jazz roots and new takes on Coltrane's unique musical world — with crisp mouth harp tones and great big band orchestration by Mathias Heise himself.
