True to tradition, the DR Big Band kicks off the new year with a lavish and exclusive concert that could send anyone straight into jazz heaven.

Again this year, the band's New Year's guest is the American superdiva Cécile McLorin Salvant, who has previously put the audience and press totally at her feet in the DR Koncerthuset — just as she has in the rest of the world.

Three American Grammy Awards and twice as many nominations are just a small part of the honor Cécile McLorin has met despite her young age, and at home Politiken has called her “a genius” and without hesitation compared her to icons such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday.

As her special New Year's partner, Cécile McLorin brings her regular pianist Sullivan Fortner, and a stack of timeless hits from the worlds of both jazz and pop. Jazz classics, immortal pop hits and Cécile McLorin's own tones await you, and at the head of the concert is, of course, DR Big Band's chief conductor, Miho Hazama, who has also arranged some of the evening's tracks.
