Dracula is a musical based on Bram Stoker's 1897 gothic novel. The original Broadway production with gripping music by Frank Wildhorn — the author of the musical “Jekyll & Hyde” loved by our viewers — will debut on the Poznań stage as a Polish premiere. The play “Dracula”, like “Jekyll & Hyde”, remains a worldwide hit to this day, retaining the dark, coherent atmosphere characteristic of the work of Frank Wildhorn.

About the event

Dracula is a musical based on Bram Stoker's 1897 gothic novel. The original Broadway production with gripping music by Frank Wildhorn — the author of the musical “Jekyll & Hyde” loved by our viewers — will debut on the Poznań stage as a Polish premiere. The play “Dracula”, like “Jekyll & Hyde”, remains a worldwide hit to this day, retaining the dark, coherent atmosphere characteristic of the work of Frank Wildhorn.

The action of the musical takes place at the end of the Victorian era. Jonathan Harker, a young English solicitor, arrives in Transylvania, who is about to finalize a transaction for the purchase of real estate with an aristocrat - Count Dracula. Transylvania itself is considered among its inhabitants to be a place teeming with superstitions and frightening legends.

Count Dracula wishes to purchase an estate in London, but before the deal comes to fruition, Harker is accepted by the host as a guest of honor. As time goes on, Jonathan begins to have a belief that what is happening in the castle contradicts the order of nature. He also begins to doubt his own senses. Soon the Count turns out to be Jonathan's worst nightmare, and he pays for his stay in the castle with a nervous breakdown, close to insanity.

When Dracula arrives in London, a meeting with Harker's fiancée gives rise to a dark and mysterious bond that will unite a woman and a vampire. Soon, Harker, Dr. Seward, and vampire hunter Van Helsing confront the Count, determined to destroy the dark creature and save those who are still alive.

A daring adaptation of the nineteenth-century novel reminds us that the legend of Dracula is not just a literary phenomenon, but a universal symbol of human obsessions and fears that still manage to hypnotize modern audiences.

Original Broadway production of Dodger Theatricals and Joop Van Den Ende in association with Clear Channel Entertainment.

Musical staged in agreement with Music Theatre International www.mtishows.eu.
