Get literature's most famous vampire under your skin and maybe out of clothesCulture station Vanløse invites you to an evening about Dracula, from Bram Stoker's gothic novel to the iconic figure who has left his mark on film, fashion and popular culture.
We have gathered three strong cultural voices on stage this evening: Maria Månson, Chris Pedersen, Jakob Levinsen. They each see Dracula from their own perspective -- literature, film, and fashion. The conversation is guided by cultural facilitator Dennis Jacob Hess Rosenfeld.
Bram Stoker's Dracula first appeared in 1897, but the Count from Transylvania is far from gone to his grave. On the contrary, over more than 125 years, Dracula has evolved from literary monster to one of the world's most recognizable cultural icons.
Based on Jakob Levinsen's new Danish translation of Dracula, we delve into the novel and examine how the narrative and character have changed across media and generations. What is it about Dracula that continues to fascinate us? And why does the vampire pop up again and again when we talk about sex, fear, lust, death, fashion and identity?
Meet the panelJakob Levinsen — literatureJakob Levinsen is a writer and translator and is behind the new Danish translation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
He has worked with literature, culture and translation for many years and has a special interest in the importance of language.
This evening he talks about Stoker's novel, its literary qualities and the work of giving Dracula new life in Danish.
Maria Månson — FilmMaria Månson is a film journalist and host and has for a number of years disseminated films on a myriad of platforms b.la. DR.
She has a keen eye for both film history, current films and the cultural currents that shape our film experiences.

Chris Pedersen — fashion and cultureChris Pedersen is a journalist, fashion expert and cultural communicator with many years of experience from the world of fashion and culture.
He deals with fashion, subcultures, identity and the cultural narratives that hide behind our clothes and style.
This evening, he examines Dracula as an aesthetic and icon -- from gothic subculture and punk to contemporary fashion and brands.
Dennis Jacob Rosenfeld — ModeratorDennis Jacob Rosenfeld is a writer and cultural communicator and will lead us through the evening.
He ties literature, film and fashion together, making sure the conversation moves from Stoker's novel to Dracula as modern cultural phenomenon.
Along with the panel, he investigates why Dracula is still alive -- more than 125 years after his literary birth.
From bloodsucker to cultural icon, DRACULA is an evening for vampire fans, literature lovers, history buffs, film geeks, fashion enthusiasts and anyone curious as to why one particular vampire has been given a life in history and culture that goes far beyond Bram Stoker's book.
