The group counts some of alternative rock's most prominent musicians of the 90s, including Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Duke Garwood (Mark Lanegan Band) and Alain Johannes (QOTSA, Eleven), who have gone on to create an alternative folk-rock universe with inspiration from all corners of the world ranging from Reykjavik to Rabat. In addition to songs from the group's three albums and the members' individual discographies, the concert will also be accompanied by visuals from filmmaker Tad Fettig.

Drink The Sea is a new 'supergroup' made up of world-famous musicians, who are considered among the best songwriters of their respective bands of the 1990s. The group consists of:
Peter Buck, founding guitarist and songwriter of R.E.M. His collaborations with other bands and singer-songwriters span dozens of albums over 40 years. His collaborations with Drink The Sea member Barrett Martin include work on more than 40 albums to date.
Duke Garwood, an acclaimed British singer-songwriter and guitarist, who has released several solo albums. He has also collaborated with Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan on a number of releases.
Alain Johannes, a Chilean-American producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, who founded the band Eleven. His virtuosic abilities have been in demand by artists such as Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey, Queens Of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures and many others.
Barrett Martin, Grammy-winning producer who was also the drummer and songwriter of the Seattle band Screaming Trees as well as the supergroup Mad Season. He formed the instrumental group Tuatara with Peter Buck and has worked on more than 200 albums as a producer and studio musician. He has appeared on albums by R.E.M., Queens Of The Stone Age, Brazilian superstar Nando Reis as well as various singer-songwriters.
Lisette Garcia, a Mexican-American percussionist, who has appeared on numerous albums from around the world. She has also worked as a song translator on albums produced in South America.
Drink The Sea began three years ago in 2022, when Alain and Barrett jammed together at Barrett's studio in Olympia, Washington, to see what kind of musical magic they could create together. Two years later, Barrett and Duke toured together in England and Iceland before recording further songs in Reykjavik. After that, Barrett, Duke and Peter met in São Paulo to record more tracks. Work later continued in Joshua Tree, where Alain joined them, followed by further recordings at Alain's studio in Santiago, Chile. Final production took place at Barrett's studio in Olympia, Washington, while mixing was done in Barcelona, Spain. The two debut albums that the band recorded were literally created around the world.
The band has taken its name from a song line written by Duke. Produced and mixed by Barrett and Alain, the albums reflect the members' extensive experience as songwriters, arrangers and singers. The music also bears a strong mark of world music, which permeates the sound universe. Although the songs are built around traditional guitar, bass and drum constellations, they also sparkle with the sounds of Arabic oud, Indian sitar, Indonesian gamelan instruments as well as various exotic percussion instruments such as Brazilian surdo, frame drum, vibraphone, marimba and kalimba.
On October 10 at the Flea you can experience the collection of living legends in a unique concert featuring material from Drink The Sea's three albums, members' previous material and visuals from filmmaker Tad Fettig.
