DRZEWO MAGII to filmowa interpretacja jednego z najbardziej charakterystycznych światów brytyjskiej literatury dziecięcej.
About the event
EN The Thompson family leave London for the countryside – partly out of necessity, partly in the hope of a fresh start. For their three children, the move means being abruptly uprooted from everything familiar. But things take an entirely different turn when the youngest, Fran, discovers an extraordinary tree in the nearby woods, inhabited by a host of peculiar residents. At its top, fantastical lands appear – ever-changing, unpredictable and governed by their own, often absurd, rules. THE MAGIC FARAWAY TREE is a film adaptation of one of the most iconic worlds in British children’s literature. Enid Blyton invited readers into the Enchanted Forest as early as the late 1930s. Her stories were built on the idea that adventure could be waiting just beyond the garden gate, and that children should have the freedom to explore the world for themselves – with curiosity, courage and a healthy dose of independence. A connection to nature, the joy of play, and a sense of wonder—embraced without the need for explanation—have contributed to the lasting appeal of this beloved series for decades. Screenwriter Simon Farnaby and director Ben Gregor bring the story into the present day without losing its original charm. Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy strike a lovely balance between comic bewilderment and genuine warmth as the parents, while Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie and Rebecca Ferguson clearly have great fun with the film’s more eccentric, fairy-tale elements. Beneath the fairy-tale chaos, THE MAGIC FARAWAY TREE offers not only a gentle nudge away from screens, but also an invitation for families to step outside their routines together and support one another in exploring new experiences.
