Well well..

Nearly 4 years ago, we entered Voodoo for the first time with a bunch of scoops, not yet having any idea what to expect. These were the times of experimentation and smelling again with Warsaw realities, lack of places to play and organize sound system sessions.

In the event life of a promoter of this kind of events, the only motivation to organize them is a mixture of what we want to convey and what we get from you. Every high five, every smile, every 'give thx', every 'was awesome! , every positive comment, every presence of you — this is often the only driving motor for us. Sometimes when there are moments of doubt, it is you who pull us up in this way! 🙏

This is exactly what our first session in Voodoo looked like, to which we invited Ashanti Selah. We were shocked to see the turnout. Voodoo filled up quickly and totally. The air was dense with vibrations, and the vibe of this event totally exceeded our expectations. Among other things, thanks to such sessions, we are pulling Dub It! until today. 🔥

Realizing this, we decided to invite Ben to Warsaw again! Voodoo, although not perfect, turned out to be very professional and friendly to work with, and most importantly, understanding when it comes to the sound system until 5 am.. Our equipment over the last 4 years has already been able to pupate several times and we have come to the conclusion that it will be worth turning the wheel and meeting Ashanti Selah once again, with a new quality.

DUB IT! — ROOTS REVIVAL MEETS ASHANTI SELAH (UK)

A sentimental journey into the past, and at the same time a positive look ahead to the new generation! Among other things, Aba Shanti was a big spark to start the construction of soundsystem in Poland and his son Ben, still surprises us every now and then with exceptionally good music.

You ready?!

👊👊👊

☞ Ashanti Selah

A musician and dub producer from the United Kingdom, he is the eldest son of the world famous sound system operator Aba Shanti-I. The beginning of his mystical journey of playing and producing music coincided with a very early contact with sound system culture, where thanks to his father and his activities at the age of just a few years he danced, listened, watched and sometimes sang in north-west London Not at the Notting Hill Carnival.

He has recently been a full member of the Aba Shanti crew, riding with them to various sessions in the UK and Europe. In addition to working on his own productions in the studio, Ashanti Selah uses his musical abilities as a keyboardist in various bands. He has had the pleasure of collaborating with many prominent vocalists, musicians and producers such as: Vivian Jones, Mad Professor, Joe Ariwa, Ras Divarius, Alpha Steppa, Dan I Locks, Junior Roy, Ras Teo (to name a few). “Keeping the Roots & Culture flame alive, Ashanti Selah is playing a key role in the future of conscious sound system music.”

★ Roots Revival Soundsystem ★

Roots Revival Soundsystem is a project whose mission is to promote sound system culture in Poland and in the world.

Roots Revival dates back to 2006, when after several years of playing in other collectives, Rootskontrolla and Jaszol decided to join forces. Soon after, inspired by Jamaican sounds and legendary British sessions, they built probably the first sound system of its kind in the country.

At the beginning of 2022, Tomana Dub joined the selection team, also providing organizational and graphic support.

Based on their unique energy, distinctive style and solid crew, Roots Revival want to represent what they believe to be the best of the roots & culture genre.

In addition, Jaszol is responsible for the creation and management of Tribe 84 Records, as well as the organization of the Bass Camp festival in the south of Poland.

Vibes up!
