Duet composition: Julia Wolańska-Gajda — piano Michał Gajda — accordion

In the program: Andrzej Krzanowski Wind echoes through the clearing for solo accordion Stanisław Moniuszko Prząśniczka for accordion solo (arrangement: Michał Gajda) Fryderyk Chopin Nocturne in C minor op. 48 no. 1 for piano Jan Sebastian Bach Aria “Schafe können sicher weiden” (arrangement: Duo Wolańska/Gajda) Bernhard Molique Sonata op. 57 Witold Lutosławski Variations on Paganini (arrangement: Duo Wolańska/Gajda)

The unobvious combination of instruments immediately introduces us to a world full of new musical sensations and surprising sounds. Historically and technically distant from each other, the instruments put together in a duet will present their full interpretation capabilities in works from the canon of European classics by such composers as Johann Sebastian Bach or Witold Lutosławski. In addition to magnificent arrangements for duet by the performers, we will also hear original works for piano and accordion solo.

The ensembles formed in 2014 are composed of: pianist Julia Wolańska-Gajda and accordionist Michał Gajda; graduates of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music. The artists regularly perform in Poland and abroad. They have performed in prestigious concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York or the Berlin Philharmonic. The band has also been awarded in international competitions. In 2018, the musicians received a media award: Medal of Young Art “Voice of Wielkopolski” in the category of classical music “for artistic artistry, which stands at an extremely high level in the workshop, but is also distinguished by a sober and original interpretative approach”
