One of the most popular in the world of classical ballets — the story of a girl who, thanks to a star toy, the nutcracker, wanders through a fairytale wonderland, where everything is possible, as in a dream... The tale of “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” was written in 1816 by the German poet, writer, musician and painter E.T.A. Hoffmann in one person. Her French adaptation of the pen of Alexander Dumas-father inspired the creators at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. The ballet shape of the fairy tale was created in the imagination of the father of the Russian dance school Marius Petipa, the composition of the music was entrusted to Pyotr Tchaikovsky, after the success of his “Sleeping Beauty”, also in the arrangement of the famous choreographer. The premiere of “Grandfather” took place in 1892.
