Nutcracker. Christmas Story — Piotr Tchaikovski/Youri Vámos

The Nutcracker is a timeless work by Piotr Tchaikovsky from 1892, to which whole families flock to all theaters in the world, during the Christmas season. This is not ballet, as you often hear, only for children — but for whole families! The unique atmosphere of the upcoming Christmas is embodied in the masterful score and in the breathtaking dance. However, the Wrocław Opera has gone a step further and instead of classical ballet, thanks to the idea of choreographer Youri Vamos, the Christmas Tale of Charles Dickens is shown to our eyes with music fully derived from the original score of The Nutcracker. This is a unique story about Scrooge and his transformation, which combines classic lines of the ballet libretto and famous dance scenes: snowflakes, characteristic dances or the signature pas de deux.
