Indian Cinema Day at the National Film Culture Centre
What does architecture say about society? How do home and city reflect our ideas of modernity, community and the future? We invite you to Indian Cinema Day at the National Film Culture Centre, during which we will look at India through the lens of film, architecture and culture.
The program included two unique films that tell about space and people in different ways. Nostalgia for the Future takes us through the history of Indian modernity, showing how changing concepts of home shape social notions and identity. The cult film In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones, written by Arundhati Roy, takes us to Delhi in the 1970s, in an environment of architecture students, where academic rules collide with youthful idealism.
The day will end with a panel discussion “Home, city, society. Poland and India in the space of modernity”, during which, together with the invited experts, we will reflect on what architecture says about culture, memory and social transformations. We will combine Polish and Indian perspectives, looking at the importance of space in everyday life and collective imagination.
After the conversation, we will invite participants to a tasting of Indian cuisine, an opportunity to extend the meeting and get to know another aspect of Indian culture.
We invite you to watch, talk and taste India together!
