We invite you to the screening on the Day of Polish Cinema — 11 November this year on the National Independence Day. The film celebrates the 50th anniversary of its release, we show it as part of the Golden Mating series. The lecture before the screening will be given by film critic Maciej Kędziora.
About the film:
The film “Sorry, are they beating here” received the Main Prize at the Polish Film Festival in Gdansk in 1976. There are no professional actors in this film. Two of the main roles Piwowski entrusted to well-known boxing champions, Jerzy Kulej and Jan Szczepanski. The viewer's attention is drawn to the extraordinary pietism in the reproduction of the realities of the Warsaw criminal world and the authenticity of the scenes watched.
The main character of the film is Belus, a smart gangster, a professional in his craft - he chooses reliable companions, remains elusive to the militia. She is just planning another cash jump at the “Sesame” Department Store.. Before that, he discusses a fictitious jump with his accomplices to find out which of them can fall. He gives each of them a different address of the shepherd; under one of them intelligence officers soon appear. The moonshine, which has shed, is cut with a razor. Meanwhile, MO inspectors, Milde and Górny, are persuading — or actually blackmailing — a petty criminal to win Belus' trust and report his plans to them. “Student” - because this is the code name given to the boy - fulfills their orders. He tells them all about Belus's planned jump to “Sesame”. Belus is ambushed.
