During the meeting, participants will learn to read emotions, symbols and hidden meanings on the example of the painting “Girl Reading a Letter by an Open Window” by Johannes Vermeer.

We still don't know more about Johannes Vermer than we know. The list of works unanimously recognized as his is also subject to modification. The heroes of the paintings of the Dutchman, as if ordinary people performing simple activities in typical bourgeois interiors, often turn out to play interpretive pranks on us, the audience. How, then, to look at the painting “Girl Reading a Letter” from the Dresden Gallery, so as not to pass by with its true intention? We will try to solve this riddle at the December meeting.

As part of the next edition of Czas Sztuki, in addition to lectures, we propose workshops on reading paintings. This time we will look at the works of the most outstanding artists of world painting.

Classes “Time of Art — Interpretations” are devoted to the conscious perception of works of art and the interpretation of paintings. The program includes an analysis of the composition, symbolism, emotions recorded in the painting and the historical context, enabling a better understanding of the message contained in the works.

Leading:

Jolanta Bobala - a graduate of art history at the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University. He is interested in painting at the turn of the century, photography and ways of interpreting images. She published in the magazine “Szum”. Cooperates with the Department of Education of the Ministry of Education. He leads author tours around Krakow and Krakow museums as part of the Art to go!
