Distinguished by nominations for Oscars and Golden Globes, Magnus von Horn's disturbing, hypnotic film is undoubtedly one of the most interesting films in contemporary European cinema.
The main character of this story, which takes place just after the First World War, is Karoline, a young worker at one of the factories in Copenhagen. The life of a girl is not one of the easiest, and in addition, it becomes more complicated when she becomes pregnant. Abandoned by the child's father, left without means of livelihood, she unexpectedly gets help from the mysterious Dagmar. The women establish a thread of agreement and for a moment it seems that Karoline has a chance for a better tomorrow. However, it soon becomes clear that everything comes at a price in this harsh world, and Dagmar hides a dark, terrifying secret.
In addition to the story itself, the film's asset is also excellent pictures by Michał Dymek.
